Governance

A response is published beside the record.

OUBAS publishes documents and draws conclusions from them. Any person or institution named in that material is entitled to answer it here, on the same platform, in their own words.

How it works

01

Identify the material

Give the page, episode number, book volume or case number, and quote the passage you are answering.

02

State your response

Set out your position and attach any document you rely on. There is no word limit on the substance; we may publish a summary with the full text linked.

03

Acknowledgement within 5 working days

OUBAS confirms receipt and tells you whether the response will be published as submitted, or where a factual correction will be made instead.

04

Publication

Substantive responses are published on or alongside the material they answer, dated and attributed, edited only for length and unlawful content.

Submit a response

You may also use the contact page. Submitting a response does not waive any right you may have, and OUBAS does not treat a reply as an admission of anything.

What we will not do

  • — Remove a lawfully published court record because it is unwelcome.
  • — Withdraw an opinion that is supported by a published document.
  • — Publish a reply that is itself defamatory of a third party, or that discloses another person's private data.

We will correct a demonstrated factual error promptly and visibly. That is set out in our editorial standards.
